I read and respond to every email. It may not be witty, detailed, or what you want to hear, but I will respond, usually within 48 hours.

The best way to stay in touch, however, is to join my mailing list. I'm not going to bombard you with emails or sell your information, but I will let you know about new books and events and what's going on in my life. If you provide a mailing list, you may even get something cool from me in your snail mail from time to time.

No need to ask permission to send me things! I love getting cards, letters, and other goodies in the mail, but please don’t send unpublished manuscripts or story ideas. I would never knowingly steal anything from you, but ideas get stuck in my head and two years from now, I may not remember that a plot point came from your short story.

If you want me to write back, you can increase the likelihood by including a self-addressed and stamped envelope. Please do not send books or other memorabilia for me to sign. The chances of something getting lost or damaged, even if you provide the return shipping, are just too great.
